Have A Chocolate ~ It May Be Good for You!
Posted March 3, 2010on:
“Most of us view chocolate as some recently discovered food. You may be surprised to learn that that Aztecs and Mayas were dining on chocolate over 3,000 years ago! They concocted a drink from the Cacao (cah-COW) seed, mixed it with spices an other ingredients, and served he concoction as a very bitter beer. Unfortunately for them, sugar was unavailable to them at that time. The Spanish conquistadors later brought chocolate back to Europe and numbers uses of the cacao seed have occurred since that time. Several studies extol the benefit of dark chocolate. Some studies report that dark chocolate may lower blood pressure, cholesterol, and stress hormones. But don’t go overboard on chocolate ~ about 1/3 is fat ~ some suggest that you use no more than 3.5 ounces per day. Nuts and flavored chocolate appear to be OK; but no caramel, nougat, or other fillings.” ~ From Kentucky Medical Asssociaton (KMA) Winter Mediascope, 2010
